Hi! I’m Stephanie Hiltbrand designer and photographer of hiltBRAND Graphic Design. I love having the opportunity to work with people to provide them with designs that enrich their lives, business or just for fun! My journey to become a graphic designer started in high school. It was a school of 300 people and the only exposure to design I had was a computer class where I devoted way too much time to having the coolest presentations. When it came to deciding what I wanted to do it was pretty clear that graphic design was the route that I should take. Five years later I graduated from Dixie State University in St. George, Utah.

My career started out in the newspaper industry designing ads. Finding new ways to design small spaces with LOTS of information and balancing that with making it look good. I had some wonderful experiences and learned a lot about how to work with clients. I then moved to a design agency where I fell in love with the printed product. Sending things to be professionally printed and seeing the designs come to life. My favorite part of designing is seeing the final reaction of my work presented to the client. The overwhelming joy of their vision coming to life. The close second is, let’s say #1a: is using all the design elements, typography, colors, layout to create a piece of artwork that I send out into the world to be viewed by everyone that sees it. My heart and soul goes into every piece that leaves my studio. I am so glad I chose the path I did so many years ago.

On my journey, I have developed a love of photography as well. I started out as a very amateur photographer in high school doing mostly landscape photography. Taking pictures of people terrified me. I always felt that I was encroaching on their personal space and stealing their soul. Landscapes didn’t talk or tell me if pictures weren’t what they wanted. I still love taking photographs of landscapes to capture the beauty of the earth where we live. However, within the last 5 years I have found a love of capturing images of people. Seeing the changes in my client’s life from year to year. I love seeing the progression of their lives as the grow older and gain more life experience. I love capturing the moment that they will treasure for forever.

On the home front, I have a wonderful support system. I married my computer programmer guy before he was my computer programmer guy. His name is Brett and he handles programming and web design for hiltBrand Graphic Design. I have two interns who have been with the company for their entire lives. They love us just that much!  They double as models from time to time, if bribed with candy, ice cream or other such sweets. One is a photographer in training and the other loves colors. I am excited to see how much they grow in this industry or in any other that they choose.
